Thanksgiving Big Bend Trip 2013

Thursday, October 3, 2013

We invite you to join the Austin Sierra Club for our annual Thanksgiving Big Bend trip (Nov 27 - Dec 1).  There is a special appeal of the Chisos mountains, Chihuahuan desert, and river country that lures us to Big Bend to spend the long holiday weekend year after year.  We are offering 2 separate but similar trips - one will set up camp at Chisos Basin, and the other at Rio Grande Village... The Chisos camp is a bit more scenic, nestled high in the mountains, but RGV has a few more comforts.  The price for both trips including van transportation from Austin, park entrance fee, camping fees, guided hikes, and most meals is $320 members / $345 non-members (another great reason to join the Sierra Club).  A variety of incredible hikes, ranging from 3 to 13 miles, will be offered each day.  Hiking in rugged terrain is a strenuous activity, and camping in wilderness areas takes preparation.  Read our detailed trip descriptions - Chisos , RGV - to see if you might like to join us.  These trips fill very fast - if you are serious do not delay.  For more info, contact Linda Kernahan <>.
